Who, What, and Where?

It is quite astonishing how often these three questions pop up. You hear them on college campuses, at the office, on the bus, in basic training, sitting in the window seat of an airplane, and even in prison. In each instance the same three questions: Who are you? What are you doing here? and, Where are you going?

In fact, it is the very same questions that scientists, philosophers, and religious leaders have been trying to answer since before recorded history. Who are we? Why are we here? Where are we going? Consequently, since each individual's world-view, or philosophy, rests on the answers to these three questions, they become infinitely important to each of us.

However, it isn't just important to us individually, but also to everyone we will ever come in contact with either directly or indirectly. In living out our philosophy we affect everyone around us and likewise the effect we have on them radiates ever outward.

This makes each life unique, precious, and important not only to the one living it but also to everyone else who has ever lived, is living now, or ever will! When we are then faced with this momentous truth what then? With the infinite possibilities before us, and such a responsibility as to influence all of humanity, how then should we proceed?

Many claim to have exsclusive rights to the answer, indeed just about anyone you ask will have his or her own answer to these "big three." However, just as we each have our own life to live, and our own resposibility to live it, we each must make our own choices. And if I were to offer you "James' Plan to Live Life" you would more than likely laugh yourself out of your seat, and with good reason.

Instead I ask you, as many have asked still yet others from ages past, to "come and see" a man who is more than a man. I beg of you to take the time to listen to the story of a poor carpenter who called to "all ye who labor and are heavy laden" and to read of the man, who is more than a man, that offers "peace for your soul."

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:19-20 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Mark 16:15-16

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Who am I?

My name is James, and I am a Christian. I obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ and was born again "of water and of the spirit" on June 14, 2009. I am currently a student at Freed-Hardeman University where I have come to further my knowledge of God's word, and to pursue a degree in Bible and History. I am a redeemed soul, I am a forgiven sinner, I am a disciple and proclaimer of Jesus, the Christ.

What am I doing here?

I have devoted my life to preaching the gospel (good news) of our Lord and Savior Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ. To affirm and attest that God (YHWH) exists; The Bible is His divinely inspired (verbally & plenary) and providentially protected word; and Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God, the Messiah (Christ) prophesied in the Old Testament and revealed in the New Testament.

Where am I going?

I am on my way to eternity, preparing to meet my God. To be welcomed into His glory, to stand before His throne, and ready to give account for the life I have lived here on earth. Trusting not in my deeds, but in His faithfulness to all those who would come to Him.

"Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:12-14

I pray that you will come to have the same faith and trust that I have in the Savior of mankind, Christ Jesus. I humble request that you investigate for yourself the case that Christianity makes as the one and only true religion. With an open mind and an open heart search out the truth of this matter and may we meet in heaven when this life is past. May the Lord bless and keep you, and may you find your way home, Amen!
